TFL, THE MAYORS OFFICE &
RESEARCHERS OF THE EXHALE STUDY
The Exhale Study funded by TFL to research the effect of the Low Emission Zone on children’s lung capacity revealed: “NO EVIDENCE of a decrease in the proportion of children with small lungs for their age over the 5 year study.”
In the email correspondence, Shirley Rodrigues Deputy Mayor for London, requested the Head Researcher of the study (Prof. Chris Griffiths), to ‘re-word’ the Study, as it reads like the Low Emission Zone or similar had no impact at all.
Prof. Griffiths responded, stating: “its difficult to alter the sentence you refer to as its what we set out to look for but didn’t find…..the “positive spin” on this is that impacts ULEZ will have on air quality and health, which we will emphasise.
(The words we outline here is “POSITIVE SPIN” – see for yourself…)
